Being Still

It is especially poignant at this time in our world to be still. Many people have been forced to slow down right now simply due to social distancing and self-isolation. Hopefully, it can be an opportunity for reflection and allow for that Light to push away the darkness of fear or despair. Trust is necessary now more than ever, and the only way we can reach that point is to surrender to that “force of love” described by Julian of Norwich, “…that holds us fast and will never let us go.” That is how grace works for me. If my heart and my mind are not turned toward the Light, I can end up in a panic because I know I do not have what it takes to conquer all fear. I think I have it easier than a lot of folks just because I have such a wonderful source of love and support in my wife. However, I also need that clear knowledge of God upholding me in all things to find strength for the daily challenges I face. When I see what is happening in the world, I pray most especially for those who cannot find a source of strength to get them through.
