Sink down to the seed which God sows in the heart, and let that grow in thee, and be in thee, and breathe in thee, and act in thee. Isaac Penington
Lisa and Jan are recorded ministers in the unprogrammed tradition of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers). They are grateful to be part of a faith community where spiritual gifts are recognized in women and LGBTQ+ persons, and were joyfully married under the care of their home Meeting several years ago. Both Jan and Lisa have a background in theology (study and teaching) and have given spiritual workshops, retreats, and talks among Friends and other groups. They seek to be faithful to a leading to ‘know others in the things that are eternal’ through various opportunities as God wants.
Lisa is a lifelong student of scripture, including a semester studying in Israel, Egypt, and Greece which brought depth to her experience of God’s Word. The Quaker practice of worship—waiting in silence for Spirit to speak—has enriched her spiritual grounding and been the foundation of much of her writing. Lisa finds God each day in people and in nature, especially in owls, her favorite of God’s creatures.

Jan has always felt a deep call to ministry from the time of being a child, but it was not an option in her church due to gender. She found a spiritual home that ‘spoke to her condition’ among the Quakers which echoed her sense of the Divine as being accessible and profound. Jan has traveled in the ministry in the traditional manner of Friends, and those experiences fostered lasting spiritual connections.
Lisa and Jan share a love of books, music, and laughter, usually finding at least one moment each day when they laugh to the point of tears and snorts. They are grateful for the many blessings in their lives.
